January 10, 2023 Association Update

Another year has passed, and it is time to request dues again.  Dues remain the same, $10 a year, they are strictly voluntary, if you can’t pay or don’t want to pay, you will still remain a member.  If you have a PayPal account, that is the easiest way to pay and for me to deposit the monies, the association PayPal account is [email protected] .  You can also send it my personal Venmo account, [email protected] , and I will transfer it into the Association account.  If you would rather pay by check or money order, make it payable to 548th and 67th Recon Assoc, mail to 548th and 67th Recon Assoc, PO Box 75549, Kapolei HI 96707, it may take a while before the check clears, since I don’t routinely check the mailbox.

Everything is on track for our reunion in April.  If you are attending the reunion, please make your reservation, you won’t be charged until you check in. If you are listed as attending and cannot attend, please let me know ASAP.  If you have problems making your reservation also let me know.  The cut-off for any making the group reservation is March 30th.  You can pay for the reunion up until the reunion, but the sooner the better for me.  See the website https://548rtg.org/548th-67th-reunion-2023-melbourne-florida/ for instruction on making reservation and payment.

January 11, 2022 Association Update

548rtg.org Website

In December I was scrolling through the website and found a large number of pictures had disappeared from the site and the database.  After many calls to the web host, GoDaddy,  technical support failed to resolve the problem the only solution was to rebuild the site.  Since the error had occurred over 60 days ago, no back-up was available.  Luckily I had backed the site up on my computer, I could reloaded the pictures one at a time which took two weeks, I think I have gotten them all now and we should be good to go.  If you notice this happening again, let me know.  I have not received any new membership applications since I changed the application form on the website several months ago, it works from my computers, but I wonder if there might be a glitch somewhere, if you sent an application and are not on the roster, https://548rtg.org/membership-roster/ , let me know.  For you 67th troops out there, despite the name of the site it includes both our organizations, I named it before we merged.  Please send new material and correction to [email protected] .

Dues

It is a new year and time to request dues again.  Dues remain the same, $10 a year, they are strictly voluntary, if you can’t pay or don’t want to pay, you will still remain a member.  If you have a Paypal account, that is the easiest way to pay and for me to deposit the monies, the association Paypal account is [email protected].  You can also send it the my personal Venmo account, [email protected] , and I will transfer it into the Association account.  If you would rather pay by check or money order, make it payable to 548th and 67th Recon Assoc, mail to 548th and 67th Recon Assoc, PO Box 75549, Kapolei HI 96707, it may take awhile before the check clears, sine I don’t routinely check the mailbox.

Emails and Address Changes

If you didn’t get this message by email, I don’t have your current email, please send it to [email protected].  Also, if you move, let me know your new address so I can update the database and demographics of the members.

Reunion Rescheduled August 26, 2021

Up until the end of July we were good to go with the November reunion, but with the Delta Variant now running rampant, I polled the members attending the reunion and the majority voted to reschedule the reunion.  This morning I got the confirmation from the hotel confirming the new date, 24-26 March 2022, we need to keep it out of hurricane season.  It will be another few days before we get our room block and can make reservations.  Be sure to cancel your hotel and airline reservations if you were attending the November dates.  We can’t guarantee this pandemic will subside before March, so hang loose.

Reunion Update May 19, 2021

548th and 67th Recon Association Members
Our 6th bi-annual reunion is still scheduled for November 18-21, 2021 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, New Orleans and it looks like it will be a go this time after three false starts due to the virus.  There have been no changes to the schedule.  For the schedule, details, and how to signup see our website 2021 Reunion New Orleans Update – 548th and 67th Reconnaissance Association (548rtg.org).
The rental car offices have reopened in New Orleans, but none have 16-passenger vans, hopefully before November they will have then again so we don’t have to charter a bus for the WW-II Museum.   Below is a list of those I have attending thus far.

This year we are also asking for your strong financial support in placing a memorial to our two organizations at the Museum of the United States Air Force Memorial Park, which will dedicate at our July 2018 reunion in Dayton Ohio.  Our reunion committee in Dayton has decided on a Granite Bench for our memorial, the cost of these benches is $3,500-$6,000, so we will need some generous contributions to make it happen.  If you have any suggestions for the design of the bench, email me at [email protected] and I will send them on to the planning committee. Please send your dues and contribution to the memorial project by:Paypal payment to [email protected]Check or money order sent to and made payable to 548th and 67th Recon Assoc, PO Box 75549, Kapolei, HI 96707.   The wife and I will be at our son’s home in Boise Idaho April 13 – June 1, so any payments by mail during this time will be deposited after we return to Hawaii.Sorry no credit card payments, we found this option was too costly.Anything over $10 will be considered a contribution to the memorial, unless otherwise stated. If you paid your dues in advance, thank you.

548th and 67th Alumni  January 19, 2016

No formal or religious services are scheduled. Family and Friends are invited to attend. Individual statements in remembrance/honor of him will be welcomed. Best Regards
Dave Rogers      We are about a year and a half away from our next reunion, which will be in the Virginia area. I would like some members in the DC area to volunteer to form a committee to plan and put on the reunion, Let me know if you are willing to take it on.      We have been in contact with Col Flood and the dedication of the new 548ISRG building at Beale is tentatively planned for July of this year, Col Flood hopes to firm up the date in the next month.  When we get a firm date, we will try to organize a mini-reunion for those who can attend the dedication.      Bill Germer and Mike Helton have both asked for assistance in getting 548th artifacts and memorabilia for display at the 548 ISRG at Beale, here is what Bill posted on the 548th Facebook:  Col. Flood, current Commander of the 548th ISR Wing, is looking for old 548th memorabilia. They are building display cases for it.   Send donations to:9th Intel Sq

Beale AFB, CA 95903      Since before our Hawaii reunion, we have been attempting to locate the mural that hung in the stairwell of the 548th at Hickam so it can be displayed at the 548th at Beale.  This past week the historian at the PACOM JIOC (formerly JICPAC), where it was last displayed, said he had saved it from the dumpster when a new commander wanted it taken down, but finally turned it over to an unrecalled unit/individuals at Hickam several years ago.  He has the JIOC facilities folks looking into who at Hickam might have gotten it and will check with the PACAF History Office on the off chance it is there.  He will also be checking for additional 548th artifacts that may be at the JIOC. MahaloBill

548th Association Update July 7th, 2012:

Our 2nd reunion is over and it was a great success.  On Friday we started out the day with a tour of the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command and Central Identification Laboratory on Hickam.  Following lunch, we dedicated our plaque at the Atterbury Circle Memorial, with Col Benson providing remarks and the Hickam Honor Guard, for those who notice, we are missing a “n” in Reconnaissance, my bad, I did not catch it on the final mold setup they sent me for a quick one hour approval to get it cast in time for the reunion, it was correct on the draft I sent them.  Following the dedication, we walked over to Hangar 3, where the Commander of the 613 AOC gave us a tour of almost the entire building and a detailed brief of their mission.

Friday night we had a brief business meeting at our Foster Point Cookout.  The members present elected Joe Weller as the President, Mark Mizner as the Vice President, I remain Secretary/Treasurer, and Ben Oakes the Historian.   It was decided the next reunion will be in Virginia,/DC area, the greatest concentration of our members.  I did not have all of the bills in for the reunion at the time of the business meeting, but they are now in and we have $1,775.39 left in our account, more than enough to cover the deposits for our next reunion, none of the dues or extra money for the plaque were used for the reunion.

Saturday, most of the members went on a great tour of the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island hosted by Steve Alber, a few of us went over to Bellows for half a day at the beach and a mini cookout.  Saturday evening we had a great banquet at the the Hickam Officer Club, MC’ed by our outgoing President Dan Kolcun.  The honor guard posted the colors, with the national anthem being sung by MSgt Lara Murdzia of the Pacific Air Force Band, Cecil Brown delivered in invocation, followed by the POW/MIA Table ceremony by Dan Kolcun.  Following the buffet dinner, Col Patrick Flood, Commander of the 548 ISRG at Beale AFB was our guest speaker, he had an outstanding presentation.  The Pacific Air Force Band then put on a great show for the crowd.     Based on Col Flood’s remarks and discussion with some of the members, we will probably have a west coast mini-reunion in the Beale area next year when the 548th dedicates their new building, there is no date for this, but we will let you know when we have one.
I will post reunion pictures on our website when I get a chance, hopefully by the end of the week, attached is the group photo we took at the Missing Man Memorial behind the O’Club and the plaque, anyone who attended the reunion and has pictures, please email them to me.  Aloha Bill

548th Association Update February 3rd, 2012:For reunion information see the reunion information page.      A BIG Mahalo to all of you who contributed so generously to the plaque fund, especially BG (Ret) Jim Grant, whose generosity put us over the top ($2,103 plaque donations).  So far we have had 46 members pay their dues, for those of you who have not yet paid, and are not in an economic squeeze, we are still accepting dues payments ($10) and additional donations to the Association Fund, make your check out to the 548 RTG Assoc and mail it to 548 RTG Assoc, PO Box 7549, Kapolei HI 96707; you can also pay using Paypal (personal gift) to [email protected].  If you do not pay, you will remain a member of the Association, times are tough.     I will be ordering the plaque soon.  I had one member make a suggestion for a change in the wording to being more solely the 548th RTG, but from the comments I received, most like having it represent all of the units in our lineage, so I will leave it more or less as is.  I did take the “th” off the units, thanks Mary, turned the P-38 around so everyone is flying to the center, and took the sensor pods off the wings of the U-2 (TR-1).  Here is the semi-final draft for any last comments.

Plaque Update 18 January 2012
548th Alumni

As of my 548th mail box check yesterday, we have received 21 payments of dues and donations for the plaque.  The plaque fund is now at $615, a good start, but a long way from the $2000 price of the plaque, so please respond, it is only two trips to McDonalds.  A big thanks to those of you who gave extra for the plaque, it really helped.  I had one input on what should go on the plaque (U-2, SR-71, and Satellite), so I have come up with a draft plaque for your comments (yes, that is a KH-9 bird).  Due to space limitations, I could not include all of the Pacific Recce Techs (12RITS, WW-II units, and probably others), so I kept it to ones that are part of the 548th lineage and used the word “these”.  I included the 67th RTS, since many of our people came from the 67th in 1971 and they were an important Pacific RT.  We are limited to 9 lines with the graphics and 7-10 words per line, so I had to cut down from my orignal draft, it is now at the maximun length for the longest line.  Please send me your suggestions for changes.

                                                   548th Assocation
                                              Update January 2012
Subject:  548th RTG Update, Dues and Donation for Plaque I will be determining the costs of the reunion later this month from the Officers Club and Hale Koa, as of now, there are no changes since the last update. The New Year is here and it is time to collect dues from our members.  As decided at our Dayton Reunion, the dues are $10 a year.  If for some reason you are unable to pay your dues, you will remain on our roster of members and still be considered a member. I also solicit your support for a 548thRTG/RTS/6th PTS plaque at the Atterbury Circle Memorial at Hickam.  We will dedicate the plaque during our reunion in June.  The cost of the plaque is $2,000, with 250 members, I am asking each of you to consider contributing at least $10 toward the plaque, any extra money collected will go into the 548th fund.  The following are Col Larry Benson’s comments on the plaque:  “Wanted you to know that I fully support the memorial wall and will be willing to help out to make sure it happens. I presume the wall is named after Ed Atterbury, Vietnam POW who was killed after an escape attempt. Ed was the pilot in the RF-4 out of Udorn in Aug 67 that unfortunately became one of the most famous photos of the war as it took a direct SA-2 hit over Hanoi. I knew him as did Art Biedler and a couple of our other members. To me it makes it seem even more appropriate to have the RTG/RTS memorialized in an exhibit named after a recce pilot.” Please send your dues payment ($10) and, is you wish to donate, your plaque donation ($10 or more) to our snail mail address:548th RTG Assoc
PO Box 75549
Kapolei HI 96707Or you can make your payment by PAYPAL to our account [email protected] . I will assume the first $10 of any payment is for dues, unless otherwise stated.

We also need artists and silver tongue individuals to come up with the design and wording for the plaque, below are the guidlines and examples of plaques already on the memorial.  Please email us your design and/or wording.  I will put the designs out to the members at the end of January for a vote.
Heritage Pathway at Atterbury Memorial Park, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii starts at the edge of Atterbury Circle, extending inward to culminate at the circle of honor around the Base Flag Pole.
Memorial Walls at Atterbury Memorial Park, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii are positioned in four locations around the perimeter of the Heritage Pathway. Not only part of a base beautification project, the Memorial Walls pay tribute to organizations past and present. Purchasing a plaque for the memorial wall is the perfect way to leave your unit’s legacy or to memorialize a unit that has served in the Pacific theater with direct ties to Air Force air & space power.• Each bronze plaque is 8 ½ x 10 ½, 5/8 inches thick; letters are raised Gothic font
• Plaques will be mounted long edge parallel to ground on polished marble veneer walls (4 memorial walls total at Atterbury Circle )
• Inscriptions can be up to 18 lines without graphics, or up to 9 lines with graphics. Each line can have approximately 7 – 10 words per line. Note: Blank lines are used toward total line count.
• Plaques are available with a plain or flag background
• For adjacent plaques, submit orders together.Plaques already installed at Atterbury Circle:

Plaques are available with a plain or flag background – sample plaque picturesPlaque (plain background) – $2,000

Update July 15, 2011548th Reunion Hawaii 2012When:  June 28-30, 2012Where:  Hale Koa Hotel, HawaiiHotel Reservations:  1-800-367-6027, specify it isfor the “548th Reconnaissance Technical Group Reunion”      I have been waiting to send out an update until the Hale Koa got back to me confirming our block of 45 rooms for the reunion, they have now confirmed the rooms.  All of the rooms are partial ocean view.  When you call for a reservation say it is for the “548th Reconnaissance Technical Group Reunion”.  Reservations must be made at least 60 days prior to the reunion, April 26th, 2012, after that time, any unreserved rooms go back to the hotel.       I have also made a reservation for the banquet on the Hickam Officers Club lanai on Saturday and have submitted a request for the PACAF Band and Honor Guard for the banquet.  We must have at least 100 attending the banquet in order to have the lanai, otherwise, they will move us to inside the club.  Friday will be golf, independent tours, or a day in the sun at Bellows and Friday evening we will have a cook out (and probably business meeting) at Foster Point, by Hickam Harbor.  Thursday night I have a hospitality room reserved at the Hale Koa, which includes food and a pay as you go bar (food and bar are hotel requirements).  I won’t have the actual costs of the reunion until January, both the O’Club and Hale Koa will have price changes, once I get the costs, we can start to collect money for the reunion.     Starting in February, in addition to collecting for the reunion, we will also request $10 association membership dues (voluntary) from all members.  Along with the dues, we will be asking for an additional $10 (or more) donation for a 548th RTG/RTS and 6th PTS plaque on the Memorial Walls in the Atterbury Memorial Park (where the flag pole is in front of the Wing HQ, across from the PACAF building).  The cost of the plaque is $2,000, if we can get about 2/3 of the members to donate, we can pay for it.  We would unveil the plaque in conjunction with our reunion tour of Hangar Three (Inside building still tentative) and the PACAF HQ area (lots of new information signs), probably on Saturday.  Info on the plaque is as follows; suggestions as to what to put on the plaque are welcome and we will send out the proposed design(s) for members to comment/vote on:Memorial Walls at Atterbury Memorial Park, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii are positioned in four locations around the perimeter of the Pacific Legacy Pathway.  Not only part of a base beautification project, the Memorial Walls pay tribute to organizations past and present.  Purchasing a plaque for the memorial wall is the perfect way to leave your unit’s legacy or to memorialize a unit that has served in the Pacific theater with direct ties to air & space power. ·          Each bronze plaque is 8 ½ x 10 ½, 5/8 inches thick; letters are raised Gothic font·          Plaques will be mounted long edge parallel to ground on polished marble veneer walls (4 memorial walls total at Atterbury Circle)·          For adjacent plaques, submit orders together.·          Inscriptions can be up to 18 lines without graphics, or up to 9 lines with graphics. Each line can have approximately 7–10 words per line.  Note: Blank lines are used toward total line count.                                             ¨ Plaque (plain background) – $2,000

548th Alumni

For those who don’t read all of their emails, it is important I get a rough count of how many will be coming to the 2012 reunion, so I am putting the survey up front.  Please take a second when finsihed and reply to this email with:

1.  Do you plan on attending the 548th reunion in Hawaii June 28-30 2012, Yes, Maybe, or No
2.  Will you stay at the Hale Koa, as of now, both our military, active/retired, and civilian members can stay, details below, Yes, Maybe, or No
3.  Are you active duty or retired military, Yes or No

A Yes, Yes, No (Or similar reply) is all I need, but comments are welcome.

Earlier this month I visited the Hale Koa, I was not able to speak directly to reservations, but later got them on the phone and they provided the following information:
    1.  We can not block rooms off rooms for the reunion until 365 days before the reunion.
    2.  They do not give group discounts.
    3.  Military members (active or retired) can sponsor up to three civilian guest rooms; will be complicated logistics, but I am sure we can work it out with your help.

I did get to talk to the catering folks, they have two rooms we can use as a hospitality suite, BUT WE CAN NOT BRING IN OUR OWN DRINKS OR FOOD as we did in Dayton, bummer, it will be a pay as you go bar.  The hospitality room rent is $200/night on Thursday and Friday, but goes up to $2000 on Saturday if you are not having a banquet.  Banquet prices at the Hale Koa run $30-34/person, I will check what kind of price we can get at the Hickam Officers Club, in either case the post banquet get together will probably be at the Hale Koa pool.

As of now, the room rates are:

                                 E1-E5                     E6-E9, O1-O3, WO1-WO3                             CW4-CW5, O4-O10, DoD Civilians
and sponsored guests of E1-O3                     and sponsored guests of O4 and above

Standard                     $91                             $113                                                          $118
Moderate                     $99                             $123                                                          $130
Garden View                $106                            $130                                                          $136
Partial Ocean View       $114                            $140                                                          $147
Ocean View                 $125                            $154                                                          $162
Ocean Front                $150                             $186                                                          $196
Deluxe Ocean Front      $169                             $210                                                          $222
For more than two occupants, add $15 per person to rate.  Room rate based on highest rank occupant.  Children under 12 are free in parents room.  Rollaway beds or cots not allowed.  Cribs available.  Reservations not accepted more than 365 days in advance..  Pets not permitted.

This is about as cheap as you can get for ocean front in Waikiki.  I will try and call on the 365th day before to block the rooms; best to make your reservations ASAP, especially the sponsored guests, since if the economy improves, this could go away.  After typing the above rate schedule, I decided to scan the brochure, which is attached, it shows the room locations.

As of now, I plan on having most of our activities, tours and golf, at Hickam and Pearl Harbor on Friday, with a BBQ at Fosters Point, by Hickam Harbor, Friday Afternoon and Evening.

The votes have been counted and the membeship has decided to hold our next reunion in Hawaii.  After the holidays, I will start running some recce for a reunion location.  I already have some ideas for activities, with the main objective being a tour of Hangar Three, hopefully we can convince whoever the occupants are in 2012 to let us in.  Any and all suggestions are welcome.  We will also try and schedule the reunion for when the kids are out of school, many of our members still have young ones.  The final vote numbers were:

The voting for potential mainland reunion locations is finished and the clear choice of the members voting is the Beale AFB, California, area, with the 548th ISRG.  We will now have a second vote to decide between the Beale Area and Hickam Hawaii, please reply to this email to cast your vote by November 15th.  The results of the mainland vote are as follows:

Beale Area CA (Sacramento, Marysville-Yuba:  13
Las Vegas NV:  6
Key West FL:  5
DC Metro VA:  4
Short Cruise to Bermuda:  4
San Antonio TX:  3
Orlando FL:  3
Virginia Area (Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk):  2
Branson MO:  2
Memphis TN:  1
Martha’s Vineyard/Cape Cod MA:  1
Arizona:  0
Reno NV:  0  (Several suggested combine with Beale)
Beaver Hollow NY:  0
Total Votes:  44

I have been in Idaho the past month hunting and fishing with my son and grandson, but from the emails I have received, the memory books from the reunion have gone out in the mail.  Doug Nicodemus, the photographer at the banquet is sending Cecil Brown, Ben Oakes and myself a CD of the photos he took at the banquet; Ben Oakes, our Historian, is planning on making up a slide show of the reunion for our website.

After last month’s hijacking of my email, I have hopefully reconstructed the Association’s contact list, if you are reading this on the website and did not get it via email, please let me know.

Our membership continues to grow, we now have 220 members, out latest member, Jeff Krecker, served at both the 548th RTG and 548th ISRG and retired in the Beale area. Below is the current membership breakout:

The nominations for the site of our 2012 reunion are in and it is time to vote on the mainland sites.  Once the most popular mainland site is selected, we will again vote on the manland site or Hawaii, that way the mainland vote will not be split between several different cities.  To vote, just reply to this email with your choice, the cutoff for voting will be October 15th.  The following are the nominations and comments:

Beale AFB Area CA (Sacramento, Marysville-Yuba City, 548th ISRG at Beale, this is the primary location discussed location at Dayton reunion)

Reno NV (2 1/2 hour drive to Beale AFB)

Martha’s Vineyard/Cape Cod MA

Memphis TN

Short cruise to Bermuda (We can get a four day jaunt for about $400)

Las Vegas NV

Beaver Hollow, NY

There is nothing much as far as a monthly update, the sale of coins and patches has been nearly zero (will save the stock for our next reunion) and membership has been slow, with only one new member in the past month.  Photos from the reunion have been posted on the website.  We have also posted on the Reunion Information page BG (Ret) Jim Grant’s speech from the reunion banquet, Col (Ret) Lee Schatzley’s script will be posted in the near future.  A few of our members have moved, so the demographics of our 217 members have changed a bit (If you move, let us know).

Doug, our photographer at the banquet, is taking orders through the end of August for the Memory Book he is putting together and individual photos from the banquet, you can find this information on the Reunion Information Page of the website.  We had one individual who said the photo of his family taken at the banquet was not on Doug’s site, Doug checked and said all the photos were posted, if anyone else had the same problem, let me know.  You can also order prints of the pan shot taken out front of the museum, the information for ordering this print is on the same webpage, scans of segments of the pan print, which is 3 1/2 feet long, are posted at the bottom of the first page of reunion photos on the website.

Reunion and Monthly Update for July 2010

(Note:  If you are a member and did not receive this by email on July 3rd, 2010, please contact us so we can update your email address)

We now have less than a week until we meet in Dayton for our first reunion.  Everything is falling into place and it promises to be a memorable event with 121 people attending the banquet on Saturday.  For those of you who could not make it to this reunion, hopefully you will be able to make the next one.

There are only a few changes since the last update:

–         We still have one opening for the Memphis Belle restoration tour and may have some no shows, so if you decide to go, let us know.

–         I have received 548th patches and they will be on sale at the reunion in the 10th Puka (Hospitality Suite, the hotel’s B-52 Fortress Room).  We will also have the 548th coins on sale for just $3.00 each.

–         I will also have 8 x 10 prints made up of most of the group photos that are posted on the website, stop by the Puka and help us put names to the faces.  Ben Oakes will bring a scanner, so if you have any old photos from our days at the 548th, bring them along so we can add them to the website.

–         Since almost everyone is driving to the reunion, I will be renting an SUV instead of a van.  So far only Ben Gomes and James Wilson have requested to be picked up at the airport, if anyone else needs a ride, please email me and I will be happy to pick you up.  At the reunion, I will have a local Dayton cell phone, 937-825-3526, I will turn the phone on Thursday morning, up until then, email is the only way to contact me.  If you or your family need to go somewhere at the reunion, just give us a call or stop by the Puka and we will drive you anywhere you need to go.

–         As a reminder, the dress for the banquet is Aloha/Hawaiian.  You may also dress up or go casual if you prefer—Shorts and jeans are not allowed.  You may want to wear some comfortable shoes because we will have an hour and half free rein of the AF Museum at the end of the program.  Meet at the entrance of the museum at 5:00pm on the evening of the 10th.  You may want to wear some comfortable shoes because we will have an hour and half free rein of the AF Museum at the end of the program.  Meet at the entrance of the museum at 5:00pm on the evening of the 10th.  We must depart the museum premises NLT 10:00pm.  The dress for Friday’s picnic and all other events at the reunion is casual, shorts and T-shirts are OK, as long as they are in good taste.

We have had several new membes sign up in the past month, including Donald Cooper and Don Hall who were with the 548th RTS at Yokota in the early 50’s; if either of you have any photos from those days in our history, please send them to me so we can add them to the website.

Arizona

Virgina Area (Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk)

DC Metro VA

Branson MO

San Antonio TX

Orlando FL (Shades of Green military resort next to Disney World)

Key West FL (Navy Lodge up the road (Hwy 1)approx. 12 miles from the main Key West Strip. The facility is BocaCheck Naval Base.)

Our reunion in Dayton was a great success and for those you who could not make it, you can check out some of the photos from the reunion on our website, you can also find additional pictures posted on the 548th Facebook page.  It is time to start planning our next reunion in 2012; through the month of August I will be accepting nominations for our next reunion location, the places I have have received thus far are:

Martha’s Vineyard MA
Cape Cod MA
Honolulu HI
Arizona
Virgina Area
DC Metro
Newport News VA
Hampton VA
Norfolk VA

Email your nominations to this email address and we will publish the final list in the September update.  During September I will post a form on the website to vote on the locations.

Ben Oakes is finalizing the next issue of the Recce Rag, as always, we need your stories to keep it interesting.  I will send it out by email and it will be posted on the website when it is complete.
